GRC domes

A dome in reinforced concrete is heavy and slow to build, and its shape depends on shuttering done at height. A GRC dome is cast in segments at our factory, against moulds made to the exact profile, and assembled on site over a light frame.

The result keeps its curve and its detail, adds far less load to the structure below, and can be finished to look like stone, plaster or painted metal.

How we make and fix it

We set out the profile, build a master and make segment moulds from it. Segments are cast with flanges for bolting and trial-fitted at the factory before dispatch.

On site, segments are lifted onto a steel or concrete ring, bolted to each other and to the frame, and the joints are filled and finished so the dome reads as one surface.

GRC domes: questions

More about GRC

Why choose GRC over an RCC dome?

A GRC dome is much lighter for the same size, needs no shuttering at height and keeps a precise profile. That usually means a smaller support structure and less time on site.

Can you add a finial and lotus details?

Yes. Finials, lotus petals, ribs and bands are cast as part of the dome or as separate pieces fixed on top.

Do you install domes outside Bangalore?

Yes. Tell us where the site is and we'll include transport and installation in the quotation.
